What is a double cab vs regular cab trucks?
Doesn’t it feel like pickups are everywhere? The days where pickup trucks were used only for work are long gone. Modern pickups can be outfitted to be as opulent as the most iconic brands from Germany. There is a pickup for you, no matter if you want the lap of luxury or need a workhorse. Once you decide if you need 4WD (or just Rear-Wheel Drive), the next big decision is to decide which cab size is best for you and your needs.
As you might guess, a regular cab pickup has just one row of seats with a small amount of storage space and legroom. A regular cab pickup was once the one way to purchase pickups. In most regular cab pickups, the seatbacks almost touch the back of the cab. This model is the more utilitarian version of a pickup and usually comes with manual locks and windows. A regular cab is made for work, not to haul family and friends.
As one might expect, an Extended Cab (can also be called a Double Cab ) is just a Regular Cab with more area behind the front seating. When first introduced, extended cab pickups were sold as 2-door models and had rear jump seats available. These days they may be called a Double Cab pickup, these trucks now feature a second row of small doors for access to the rear cargo area. While there are 2 rows of seating, an Extended Cab pickup would not be the ideal option for road trips, even if it can carry more people.
While not as clear as the earlier cab models, a Crew Cab truck has 4 regular-size doors and the space to hold, well, your whole ‘crew.’ Crew Cab pickup trucks are built to haul more stuff and-or people. In some circles, these pickups have replaced the sedan as the family vehicle. A Crew Cab pickup truck’s more powerful engines and bigger size are not seen in the 4-door sedan segment while still being able to provide the luxuries and rear-seat legroom that families need.
